Sue Roffey FRSA FBPsS is a psychologist, academic, author, activist and speaker. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College, London, a Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPsS)and of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), a member of the Advisory Board of the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools, and a past member of the Editorial Board of Educational and Child Psychology.
Sue spent much of the early years of this century in Australia, where she founded the Wellbeing Australia network and developed the Aboriginal Girls Circle – a program for Indigenous young women, based in the Circle Solutions principles and pedagogy, which is proving to be an effective intervention for developing healthy relationships, resilience and student responsibility. Since 2017 Sue has been back in the UK, where she is focused on developing the ASPIRE principles that underpin projects to address whole child, whole school wellbeing – including the wellbeing of teachers.
Sue is in demand as an international speaker and consultant. She is a prolific writer and several of her books have been translated. You can see more details on most of the books here.
In 2024 she was the winner of the UK National Association for Pastoral Care in Education Award for her Outstanding Contribution and was a finalist in the International category
Sue says:
I have two grown children and three small grandchildren, currently aged 4, 3 and 1. This has increased my passion for revitalising education so that it is a joyful, respectful, creative and collaborative experience for all children and young people.
I see myself as a social activist and campaigner for social justice in education.
